Dear Younger Me: Remember It’s Going to Be Okay
By: Alexa Hynes
When you are sitting in your bed crying over that boy, remember it’s going to be okay. You are stronger than you know and one day you will not let a boy define you. One day you will realize you were better off without him, and God has someone better in mind.
When you’ve lost your best friend and you feel all alone, remember it’s going to be okay. One day you are going to learn that your worth is found in God alone. Friends will come and go, but God stays the same yesterday, today, and forever.
When you are stretched beyond your limits, remember it’s going to be okay. You will learn one day that you don’t have to say yes to everything. One day you will value time with God and rest, then everything else will fall into place.
When your anxiety is controlling your life, take a break. Remember it’s going to be okay. One day you will be able to surrender it all to God, but for now, say a prayer and take a nap. It’s going to be okay.
When the lies of the world are filling your mind, remember it’s going to be okay. Satan has no power over you. Fight the lies of the world with Scripture, and stay strong. Remember it’s going to be okay.
When you feel your views being challenged, remember it’s going to be okay. Stand firm in what you know because one day you will be grateful for that test. For the testing of your faith produces endurance, and endurance produces a perfect result.
When you want to compromise your beliefs, don’t. You may lose someone or something important to you, but remember it’s going to be okay. We are called to live in a way that reflects Christ and when we compromise out beliefs for the world we end up hurt.
When you do compromise your beliefs, remember it’s going to be okay. We all make mistakes and that is okay. Nobody is perfect. Repent and keep going. It’s going to be okay.
When you want to give in, remember it is going to be okay. Whatever you are going through, it’s going to come to an end. God has already won the battle. God knows exactly what you are going through and he will provide what you need,
You’re young. You’re insecure. You’re going to make mistakes; you are still learning. Don’t beat yourself up about it. You aren’t meant to carry any of this beyond the cross. Give it to God and breathe. Remember it’s going to be okay.
